🤖 Android app

Your Android phone, texting from your Mac.

iBlueText SMS pairs an Android phone with iBlueText Bridge on your Mac. Texts you send from the Mac go out from the phone's own number, and every reply, photo and voice memo comes back to your Mac — over your own Wi-Fi, never through our servers.

Hi Chris, it's Bay Auto. The 2019 Tacoma you asked about is still available. Want to come see it Saturday?
Yes! What time works?

Before you install

  • You need an iBlueText account and iBlueText Bridge running on a Mac. The phone connects to the Mac with a pairing code (QR or 6 digits).
  • The phone and the Mac must be on the same Wi-Fi.
  • iBlueText SMS becomes the phone's default texting app (you can switch back any time). Best on a phone used just for business.

How to install (about 2 minutes)

Apps downloaded outside Google Play get a few warnings from Android. That's normal for any app not yet on the Play Store — here's exactly what to tap at each one.

  1. Open this page on the Android phone and tap Download for Android.
  2. Chrome: "File might be harmful" → tap Download anyway.
  3. When it finishes, tap Open (or open the file from your notifications / the Files app → Downloads).
  4. "For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source" → tap Settings → turn on Allow from this source → tap back ←.
  5. "Do you want to install this app?" → tap Install.
  6. Google Play Protect: "Unsafe app blocked" or "Send app for a security scan?" → tap More details → Install anyway (or Scan app, then Install when it finishes).
  7. If nothing seems to happen after a step, open the downloaded file again — on some phones the install only appears on the second try.
  8. Open iBlueText SMS and follow the setup. When it asks, set it as your default SMS app.

Why the warnings? Android shows them for every app installed outside Google Play — they don't mean anything is wrong with the app. Our Google Play listing is under review; once it's live you can install (and update) straight from the Play Store with no warnings, and anyone who installed from this page keeps their setup.

Connect it to your Mac

  1. On your Mac, open iBlueText Bridge → Lines → Android phones → Pair an Android phone. A QR code and a 6-digit code appear.
  2. On the phone, at Connect to your Mac, tap Scan the code on my Mac — or Can't scan? Type it in and enter the Mac address and code.
  3. The status turns green: Connected. Choose this phone as the line when you send from Bridge.
